About the artist
Joanne Park is a 3D Generalist and Biomedical Illustrator who received her Master's in Medical Illustration at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She has also received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Visual Arts from Boston University. As a medical illustrator, she works with researchers and allied health services to help illustrate their often dense and cutting-edge research or ideas.
Having taken a combination of courses in both disciplines such as Medial Pathophysiology, Human Gross Anatomy, and Immunology, as well as Human & Computer Interaction, Design Strategy & Software, and Graphic Design, she possesses a holistic understanding to visually present the often dense and complex information in an accurate and comprehensible manner.
Minoring in Graphic Design at BU has taught her to create eye-catching compositions while incorporating design strategies and enhancing the comprehension of various forms of mass communication from traditional print to digital media. She is proficient in Adobe softwares such as Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects and InDesign, as well as 3D softwares such as Autodesk Maya, Zbrush, and Cinema 4D. Having managed social media accounts and websites for organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Beta Psi Omega, as well as her startup clothing company, Chester & Park, she also has experience with marketing and UI/UX design.
Park’s precise work ethic and outgoing personality are attributes that aid in reinforcing her ability to polish her projects, and she hopes to enrich the connection between artists and medical professionals to promote the progress of science through art.
